PAPER #1

Assignment: This assignment is in two parts.

Part 1 [Due 9/25]: You are to propose a topic for you paper relating to our readings. The topic should ask a pertinent question, and offer an answer. You should also outline how you will defend that answer, and list plausible objections. (1 page maximum)

Part 2 [Due 10/07]: Expand your approved topic to a short paper (4-6 pgs double spaced). Papers should have a clear thesis, strong arguments, and demonstrate an understanding of the texts and in-class discussions. Papers must be typed, double-spaced, stapled, and free of grammatical and spelling errors. Unexcused late papers will be assessed a penalty of one full grade for each class day late, excused late papers must have a copy of the excuse stapled to the back. Inability to print or staple your paper is not an excuse. You are free to use additional materials to support your paper, but must properly reference everything used.
